First bit of Technical Drawing for Joey!

Here we have cut the bottom off the sump we used a cutting disk on our air gun, it was a lot easier than a hacksaw.
Joey has never seen any "Technical Drawings" before so even something this simple must have looked a bit daunting!
We are using 1mm steel sheet as that was all we have, and it's the same as our sump so thats good enough for us!

OK Dad what on earth does this all mean?

Quick bit of instruction and he was on his way, It did not take him too long to finish, Once he found out the funny line up the middle was the "Center Line" he soon got the hang of it.

Right lets get cutting this out

Here is the sump all Chopped up and the Side panel that Joey marked out all ready to fit. We did have one problem that I should really put in the problems page but I'm too embarrassed. Due to technical difficulties we had to fit the sump plug, not in the new sideplate but at the other side. OK. OK. I forgot to fit it before I welded the new sideplate on.

OK lets weld!

While we were working with the welder we let Katie have a go. She welded a little pyramid out of some offcuts. I think she did a good job for her first attempt.

Katie B she's 10

Look at the top few inches of this pyramid, this was Katie's first attempt and it was as good as you can get. What do you think?
Don't look at the bottom bit though, thats more like my welding,

Only Joking.

Katie's first weld

OK OK I made a miserable attempt at welding the sump. I had a full day welding and leak checking and more welding, more leaks and bigger holes. Bugger it! Lets start again.
Joey and I whipped the Granada's engine out on Friday night and the new less rusty sump was ready to be cut up.
Joey did the marking out again and we used 1.5mm steel so it is more solid.
I got the professionals in, Step forward Lee Felton, here he is with the finished item and of course the kids Liam and Bethany.

The Feltons

And here it is in all its glory "Our"cut down 2B sump.

Thanks Big Jim

This is how we lifted the engine out to change sump's. We only removed the engine mounting nuts and it lifted enough for us to remove the leaky bugger and fit the nice new one.

Nice hoist!

Here it is fitted to the car, and no leaks.

Look at that Ground clearance
