Donington 2004!

Friday night at Donington means its "Curry Night".

19 hungry hoodies attended the "Melbourne Way" Restaurant to stuff their faces and drink the ale.
Unfortunately Big Kev and I did not realise that the drinks were being ordered on the final bill so we foolishly bought a couple of rounds arghh thanks for telling us folks.
Here we catch the moment when Mark Kingston buys Joeys kebab. Rizla's laughing because he bought young Andys for half the price.

We had quite a wait for the bus home so Joey entertained us by trying to hotwire the bus! "Silly Boy".

Andy and Joey find the biggest spelling mistake in Donnington, They thought it should say Parents though, Silly Boys

The end of the evening Jack Mellors was tied up for bed, Poor lad he does get some stick.

The next mornings entertainment was, Fault diagnosis on Peter Knights 3A, Now the symptoms were "Nothing! Absolutely nothing" so here we have the car raised up so Peter can check the Starter! Even though everyone was saying "Batterys Buggered" he wanted to check. Quite lucky he did as he found his gearbox mount hanging on a thread

Then Big Lee used his car to try and Jump start Peters ailing car, No luck........

Then a push down the hill, still no luck......

Finally the Trusty Mondeo was drafted in to try and Jump start it "Again", No luck....
Peter you need a new Battery

Later on it was on to the unique part of Donnington show, The track time. Here is Andy (Rizla) about to go out in a car like the one he is buying a Vortx MNR, First problem was the seat size unfortunately Rizla's rear end would not fit in the seat so the bloke had to fit a "XXL" seat.

Next out was Joey in the Tiger B6 driven by John Walton One of RHOCARs Racers.

Joey was delighted with these 3 laps, he was more impressed with this ride than the time he rode round Rockingham in a Lotus Elise. The open top eliment of the car made everything much more fun. Joey said that Redgate corner was the most scary but also the blind uphill right hander at the far side of the circuit was pretty frightening as well.
I wish I had got a wizz as well now, next year maybe. Many thanks to John for rendering Joey speechless for a good 5 minutes

After the excitement of the track we returned to the relative calm of the campsite, here we found Big Lee and Chris Brown delving deep into Chris's electrics. Poor Chris was flummoxed his car was refusing to start, Nothing!"Been here before I think"
They were there for ages swapping relays, shorting out circuits, pulling out hair...
A call went out to see if there was a vehicle mechanic present, as there was not Guy said What about the inertia switch Guess what it was ?

Once it was started Big Jim did a noise test on the exhaust, As you can see it was slightly over the "Donington Decibel limit" Poor old Chris had to nip off and buy some Exhaust packing....

Next bit of excitement was when Mitch caught Joey putting a "crack" sticker on his windscreen so Joey got his third beating of the weekend! Poor lad has a hard life....

Now check out these two pictures, first one is the RHOCAR site on Saturday evening........

And the second one is another club site at the same time that evening......

Then it was back to what a Hoodie does best... In the background you can see the NW Hoodies checking to see if Rizla has dropped some loose change ( NB Tenners are loose change to Rizla!).

Joey and Rizla talk about their track experiences, "Most of Rizla's experience involved the sandtrap apparently"

I have no idea what Joey is planning to do to Big Jim but I bet it got him another beating...

Judging by the faces it looks like someone has dropped more than a smoke bomb !

Next morning..... "That" club site has not changed....

Neither has the RHOCAR site....Check out the misty valley in the distance.

Later that day Chris Brown generously (Or Foolishly) gave us the keys so we could have our very own "Hood" experience, and it was brilliant, Both Joey and I were really impressed and vowed there and then to get stuck in on our car as soon as we got home. Thanks again Chris, "Top Bloke" ( Not so good at electrical fault diagnosis though )

After the ride we were telling Chris how the Snowplough had hit a "Cats Eye" and gave us a fright (Now that is low) then when smoke started coming from under Chris's bonnet we were all getting a bit worried... Mind you I did wonder why Tony Tank seemed so interested in examining the damage, We now know that he had trouble lighting the smoke pellet.... Thanks Tony

And this was the site just before we left "Packed as usual"
What a great club this is..... Thanks to everyone for another great weekend.....
