The High Level Brake light
Now we are fitting our high level brake light We decided that we did not want to cut into the roll cage to fit our strip light so our solution was to add a piece of Steel tube about 6 inches down from the top tube fitting between the two downtubes.
We cut the slot for the light and added the threaded tubes for the attachment screws as shown we also trimmed the end of the pipes to fit snugly into the downtubes.
Here is a shot of Joey doing a bit more welding fixing the threaded tubes to the inside of the pipe.
Here is the view looking aft (Backwards for all you land lubbers). We are both happy that it does not really impair your rearward vision especially as we hope to fit a dash mounted mirror, and it will also be useful to attach our luggage to.
Here she is outside and you can see that it just needs painting and it will be finished "Ready to fit the boot then!" .
A closer look at the fitted light, we have filled around the edges of the tubes with Liquid metal so it will be waterproof as well. Next our mate Jim will be painting the whole rollcage, this time we have decided to colour match it with the GRP so that should look good and we are using proper Undercoat / car paint and Lacquer.
And here is what it looks like from behind at night, this shows the brake (LED's) and the foglight, so we should be seen from behind OK!
