VT Open Day 2004
The things you do for a day off!
Here we are again, My Work's Families day. This is the second time we have been invited to attend. All the works comittee were very eager for us to bring the car again. Chris and Christine Goldson were kind enough to bring along their Exmo for the show which gave a nice added extra. Unfortunately we were positioned right next to the Clown woman so we had to listen to awful music a lot of the day, luckily when she was not there Joey turned the volume down a bit to ease the pressure on our eardrums. Last year the clown and bouncy castles were outside well away from us but this year as the weather had been terrible for 2 days before it was decided to have the indoor option (Typically the weather was lovely all day).
The notice board was full of build pictures, Robin Hood brochures and "Boys in Hoodz" magazines.
Here we have Ron Wilby,s lad Nathaniel getting a good guide round the car by Joey, The two of them seemed to get on really well and Ron's lad seemed just the type to want to build a Hood, So come on Ron get your wallet out
Two hours later they were still there
Here is a friend of ours Sandra Harlow's Mum Joy trying the car for size, looks like she likes it!
I wonder why her engineer son in law Stuart does not build her one? I keep telling him to go for it he would love it.
Bloody hell! Who is this wierd looking bloke?
Oh yes its our own "War Hero" Mark Fletcher, He has lots of medals you know?
"Long service and drinking in Cyprus when a war is going on" From the MOD."
"What the hell are you doing drinking in Cyprus when we are getting liberated" From the Kuwaitie's."
"What the hell are you doing drinking in Cyprus when we are being Scudded, from the Saudie's.
Some clowns in this hanger
What the hell has Dougie the armourer done with Joey? Looks like he has set a man eating dingy on the poor lad!
This is the car in the late afternoon after we had taken the Hood out for a few passenger rides, starting with Joey of course, but a few others, and Stuart all had a ride and seemed to be very impressed.
Joey also had a little drive himself, but it was a bit worrying as there was loads of people watching from the hanger to the left and the Red Arrows and there supporters to the right, I was worried he might stall and embarrass himself but he did OK and got a quick run up to second gear.
Next week we will borrow the trailer and go to a local run down airfield for him to have a proper shot!
We were both really impressed with the acceleration and sound of our little home built baby
All in all we enjoyed the day especially getting to drive the car which was really cool. Now when's my day off?
