Fitting the Windscreen (Our Way)
Now to Build the windscreen, we had a look at the Video and it looked pretty simple and we followed Richards instructions without any problems. This is one of the comedy sections of the video's where the camera girl see's her reflection in the Window in the background and waves to herself "Classic comedy"
This is the point that we decided to go it our own way. After struggling with bending the supports into shape (Richard does make look too easy) anyway once they were mangled into shape we decided rather than screw the supports to the screen, we would screw them to the scuttle first. After all we were happy with the position of the screen so it was just a matter of marking and drilling the holes which mount the support to the scuttle, then Holding it up against the scuttle and screen and transferring them through to the scuttle then screwing it into place.

We did run into a minor problem when we tried to fit the seal in the lower section (There was not enough seal there, Arghhh!) Never mind a quick call to "M & M Classic Car Components" and we got the order through the post the very next day, well done M & M. (01775 640423).
It was a bit scarey drilling the holes near the edge of the windscreen, but as you can see here we made it OK. If you drill slowly and carefully you should be fine too.
After trimming off the surplus framework Here is Joey trimming the excess rubber from around the screen. Quite easy if you use a nice new Stanley Blade.
Now to bend the side supports to shape, first we held the windscreen in place using some string tied from both wishbones which was routed over the middle of the screen and back underneath then taped in place, this held it pretty secure and allowed us to sit in the car to make sure we could see through the glass and not over it. We were happy to find that all was fine because of our hard work in lowering the Recaro's we can see smack through the middle.
This bit of excess lower seal had the top of the "T" bit trimmed just after the curve of the scuttle so it pulls tight and fits under the side support.
Then we marked where the screen holes were to be, removed the supports and drilled them then refitted the supports and carefully transferred the holes through the screen frame. After drilling each hole we screwed one of the small blunted self tappers in to keep it nicely in place.
And here is the boy showing off his trimmed supports, seems a shame to have to take it all apart again!
It is really starting to look like a car now, but we are still not putting in for the SVA yet Sorry Mitch !
And here is the proud lad showing off his car!
