Driving, Driving and more Driving!
So far to date less than 3 weeks after SVA we have covered 1000 miles, all without a Hood or Sidescreens
Now Joeys car is fully road legal we had nothing else to do but get some miles under our belts, One of the first places we visited was big Robs house for a cup of tea and a chat. The weather was a bit drizzly and the spray was pretty grim. I had the wipers going and was wondering why I could not see anything then I realised that the water was worse on the inside of the windscreen. Whatever the weather it was great to be out on the road and we covered quite a few miles in the first couple of days.
The weather improved so we popped over to Heather and Martin's and took them both for a quick spin. Both were pretty impressed.
That evening after another 40 mile drive round to Bardney and Horncastle, we stopped at Lee Feltons house,
"Remember him he is the Professional Sump welder"
When we offered Lee a quick drive, he and Bethany were in the car before we could finish what we were saying.
(Liam could not be bothered leaving his XBox
)
While they drove off Joey and I walked round the corner to our house, when they both got back they were really chuffed with the performance of the car. I do think they should get themselves one.
Sunday dawned another nice day so we drove ourselves to the "Newark Auto Jumble" it was funny this was the first time for 2 years that we did not actually need anything. But when we were there there was plenty of interest in the car. Its really nice when people come up and talk to you about the car.
Most days I picked Joey up from school, one particular day i set off in the sunshine but as I waited outside the school I got caught in a hail storm
I did get some funny looks. But it soon passed over.
Another day we took a short cut to avoid lots of traffic and this little lane had just had a mucky tractor deposit its load all along it
We only drove at 20mph but the clods of mud were flying all over us, as you can see we had to give the car a good wash when we got back!
We managed to refrain from driving long enough for Joey to fit the spare wheel and to take some nice pictures in the sunshine.
We especially like this picture of "The Sunshine of our lives"
In our longest trip to date we drove out to see the kids Granny Barbara near Boston, Katie went in her Mums car and we met for a McDonalds at Sleaford, Here she is posing for the picture trying to look like she is not "Freezing"
The car ran faultlessly and the sun came out, Here is Joey proudly posing for pictures at Granny and Chris's house.
Chris took the car for a quick drive, Joey was his passenger, Chris and Granny Barbara seemed really impressed with Joeys car which was really nice.
Then Joey demonstrated his driving skills by reversing the car up the drive, turning it round and reversing back up the drive. Chris was impressed with Joeys driving skills, and I was proud as punch to see my lad doing this in the car we had built!!!
I had to get some paperwork signed from my old work in "Old Leake", so what better than take the Hood. It was really windy and we had Just driven through "New Bollingbroke" and a lorry went past going the other way then "Woosh" and Joeys Hat just disappeared
So here he is wearing mine now.
A couple of my old mates popped out to try the car for size, and both were well impressed.
On the way home we stopped off at an "Ostrich Farm" and bought some Burgers and Sausages, we had a nice chat with the bloke who served us and he told us some funny things about Ostriches. Apparently they are so territorial that you could open a gate in the field and they would not pass through it (sounds like Caterham owners at a Kit car show)

The car looked good in the carpark but the clouds looked a bit iffy so we did not stop too long.
