Mounting the Wipers.

Now we have come to fitting the wiper mechanism to the scuttle. It ended up to be a right struggle to get ours to fit "Richard's Holes", Our guide tubes were slightly short in some places and too long in others. I suppose we could have looked round for more tubes, but we managed in the end by trimming some of the Bonnet inner angle down and bending a few curves to take up the slack.
We wanted to have our wipers parking "Outboard" and sweeping towards each other, so all you have to do is arrange the wiper cogs the opposite way to each other.

To get the cogs fitting at the right angle we cut some water hose to suit then put a big washer on top so the hose did not get squeezed through "Richard's Holes".

Here you can see where we have trimmed the bonnet center angle and fitted the cogs the opposite way round to each other.

Before we fitted the scuttle in place we connected up the Blower hoses to test how good the Demist system works.

It was nice to get the scuttle fitted and get the wiper cogs at the same angle to each other. Unfortunately we made a bit of a boob with the wiper sweep. Without trying our setup we read somewhere that you need a 130 Deg cog to get the correct sweep. Well we went ahead and bought one from SVC But when we connected them all up both wipers crossed each other slightly too much, like 40 Deg each        So in the end we refitted the original one and it was perfect, Doh !. We did manage to sell the SVC cog on RHOCAR to minimise our financial loss to £6.

Here's the drivers side "Parked"!

And here is the passenger wiper also "parked". We did also waste some cash on some flat wiper blades from a show which looked quite spindly compared to our "Wiper Arms" so we cut up a normal Wiper which was more "Chunky" and made the whole setup look better.
We had to manufacture the bracket thingy that connects the Arm to the wiper so we made a stainless one modelled similar to the original but at the correct angle, we then rivetted it to the wiper arm and used a small nut and bolt to connect to the wiper.

Here is the wipers in the center part of their sweep, and Joey pulling a stupid face.

Here you can see them "Parked"
In this picture Joey has just driven the car a little too far out of our drive, Get back you naughty boy!
