The Rear Panel and Fuel Tank

Looking at the previous builders method of supporting the fuel tank we quickly realised that the car would probably only got a couple of miles before the bloody tank fell off, 4 Cheap Aluminium rivets and a few blobs of silicon sealant was hardly likely to hold on to a heavy full tank for long.
So after we removed the rear panel (Finding more horrors) Joey set to work removing the tank, about 2 minutes later the tank was off If you look at the picture you will see that the pop rivet was not even fitted flush, Another crappy job I'm afraid.

Look of the condition of the "Steel" Chassis where the "Stainless Steel" tank was held loosly on by some cheap and nasty "Aluminium" Rivets without any form of jointing compound!!!

So now the car is looking even more bare and the sunroom has another panel sitting waiting to be refitted
We do not think we will have to remove the Diff etc, but we will have to change some of the bolts because the fitted items are not long enough ! We will probably remove the floor bit by bit and sort each section out as we go on.

Now what shall we do with this engine? Its an 1800 CC Pinto and we have a spare 2 Ltr one at the side of the house so it looks like this ones days are numbered. (Keep watching the for sale section)
