Sorting the rear ride height

Whenever we drove the car with some urgency on a bumpy section of road we were still plagued by "Bottoming out", some of the time it was the front "Plough" kissing the tarmac but a lot of the time it was the rear end mostly on the drivers side. Probably because the driver is a bit on the Porky side (Before anyone else mentions it)
The main culprit was big chunky shaped washers and bolt head that were fitted during the build (As per the videos). This is the Passenger side, you can see that the head of the bolt is getting ground away, On the drivers side the whole washer was starting to get bent, It was at this point that we decided something needed to be done.

Joey took the drivers seat out then drilled out the existing Bolt and Bent Washer. Meanwhile I Welded two pieces of 6mm Steel together to form a washer shape, then I welded the bolt head to this "Meaty but Flat" Washer.

Here we see the other side of the "Washer". I suppose it would be better if we had used one piece of Steel for the Washer but unfortunately we did not have enough at the time, Oh and we wanted to try out our new Welder.

Here it is fitted, Afterwards We took the Car for a nice long Drive along 30 miles of Lincolnshire's best Bumpy roads and we only scuffed the front plough a tiny bit. So we have got a result with this one it has cured us both of the habbit of lifting our backsides up in the seats when we see a big bump coming up

A few months later we managed to find the time to do the passengers side, so here we see Joey hard at work removing the seat, Or perhaps he has nodded off !!!

Here it is nicely fitted, we trimmed the metal tube in the center slightly so the whole lot clamped firmly together.
Thank goodness we have finally done the job, it was one of these "Roundtuit" jobs, we would get "Roundtuit" one day.
