Yorkshire Run (NW Style)

The Northwest Hoodies had planned a run round Yorkshire taking in the "Last of the summer wine" location Holmfirth and then visiting another famous TV site "Emmerdale Farm", We arranged to meet up with our friends in Holmfirth.
This was supposed to be our first proper use of our new "Tom Tom Sat Nav" system but unfortunately Joey messed the bugger up just before we were due to leave, He tried to put some Music on the memory card and the whole thing froze up ! So we had to resort to a crummy tattered map
Amazingly we made it in plenty of time in fact we were a bit early, so we found a parking slot and waited for the rest, And we waited, And we waited Zzzzzzzz In fact we first started to hear chatter on the CB 2 hours later! Apparently there was a number of breakdowns en route hence the mammoth delay
This shop reminded me of Joey, Wonder why ?

Poor lad, Looks Bored!

Hey Joey, wake up the rest have arrived!

Oh Bugger, never thought of this one, The others had planned for a 2 hour stop at Holmfirth Arghh.
At least we could have a look round the place now, Parking a load of Kit cars together proved to be a bit difficult and in the end some of us parked in the Coop car park, Here we see Joey showing our parking ticket in case it got nicked, we did not notice that there was a little tear off part which you kept as a reciept Dohhh!

It was a pretty place, a bit busy traffic wise looks like the nice weather has brought out the tourists.

Joey on one side of the Cafe "Compo" on the other. Just like "Last of the Summer Wine" Big Jim told us all about the show, and we promised to watch it when we got home.

Now this is what we were waiting for, Driving in a convoy in Lovely weather with a lot of our friends.

oops, looks like the breakdown's were to continue, this time it was Adrian and Linda who had a sudden gear selector problem.

The rest of us waited over the roundabout whilst one of the convoy towed poor Adrian and Linda to the Petrol station. The problem was soon diagnosed as "A Gearlever that fell off" Oops! A quick chat with a nearby AA man who loaned Adrian a Hex bit to replace the wayward lever. All sorted and we are ready to roll.

Before we left "Blackpool John" decided to check his water, Not a good move was it John ? Gave us all a nice fountain display though After a cool bucket of water we were ready to be on the way again.

Pretty soon the convoy had reached Bradford, It looked quite a pretty city, made better by the convoy of Great looking Cars though.

oops! Spoke too soon, Remember Adrian's Gearlever problem? Well we were sitting 2 cars behind him at some traffic lights on a hill, when the lights turned green Adrian seemed to be having real problems pulling away, and boy what a smell of burning clutch. Now Adrian had lost all his gear selection and was stuck in 5th gear. Our hero did not want to hold evryone up so drove on slipping the clutch so he could set off. As soon as we found a parking area we all stopped to investigate poor Adrians problems, The simple explanation was that after his earlier problems now his gearlever "Quickshift" modification had pulled out enough so that the fork was not reaching the selector so he was buggered! Never mind it was soon sorted and we were on our way again.

Next on the agenda was tea at the famous "Harry Ramsdens" the first ever one apparently, actually the Fish and Chips were not the best I had ever had, this was made worse by the half hour queue before we got served then 5 minutes after we were served! Sorry "Harry" we know a much better Chippie on Monks road in Lincoln, "Waldo's".
As usual there was lots of interest shown in the cars, its really nice to chat to interested people young and old, One lady was celebrating her 80th birthday that day, I wish I had taken her for a quick spin that would have been a nice present for her I'm sure.

The next place we visited made Joeys sister "Katie" Green with envy. It was the old "Emmerdale Farm" pub "The Woolpack". We had a quick Shandy and a photo shoot, and then........

Big Jim gave Joey his first Beating of the year
Then it was time to head off home so we followed the convoy to the Motorway and then bid our farewells, then we had a lovely drive home after another trouble free trip well done Robin Hood!
