This year its a Metro GTi
Look Here to see how Joeys beloved 1.1 met its grizzly end, Complete with soundtrack from Irene !
After the success story of last year we had a call from our mate Steve (Hi Q in Gainsborough) he knew of this 1.4 GTi Metro that was just about to be scrapped and thought that it would suit Joey, we agreed and quickly got over to Gainsborough, Dad paid the man £50 and Joeys 2007 Campaign was under way!
The car had been used as a Courtesy car for a garage and seemed to be a good runner.
Joey was quite upset at the loss of his first Racer but the prospect of wizzing round in the GTi made it a bit more bearable
The big strip of "number one" was soon under way we took as much as possible off the first car, this included stuff that might be damaged on the GTi in the racing season.
Now thats a lovely view!!!!!
Nearly ready to take Joeys second love to the crusher!
The man himself drove the poor Metro onto its final resting place ( Dad was a bit brave standing there
)
"Bl***Y H**l", he's squashed his Dad
Now the first one has gone its time to strip the GTi to its bare bones
Gizmo seems to have taken an interest
Dad fabricated some aftermarket rear sill sections to cover the holes at the back.
then it was time to patch up the inside, one thing we were amazed at was Rovers method of draining the sunroof, all it consisted of was 4 pipes which fed the water directly into the inner sill !!!!!! Good idea eh!!
After the patches were fitted it did not take long at all to fit the original roll cage and seats, oh and Joeys number 25 adds the finishing touch don't you think?
The roll cage was covered in pipe lagging, you may also notice the sunroof has been sealed off with a sheet of Aluminium for that bit of added protection.
Joey gives the car a final once over and decides that its "Looking good"
Let the battle commence!!!
