Barkston Sprint Event One 2007
OK we had months to get Joes new GTi ready for the track but as per usual we were only just finished the night before the first meet. A quick sprint round our local airfield was enough to show that the car would be fast off the line, and seemed to handle pretty well too.
Look here to see the total "J Brown Racing" preparations for the 2007 season!
Joey did a bit of gate duty waiting for his Mum and was pictured beside another "old wreck", namely a burnt out Canberra!
Here we have our combatants entering the arena!!!
And quite a range of machinery was on display as well
Look at this Lovely "Opel Manta"
And this pair of Westys
This V8 sounded fabulous and looked pretty cool too.
One great thing about this season is that Last years "Juniors" are now "Graduates" and can race with the big boys.
During the day there seemed to be an annoying amount of high pitched buzzing sounds, due to the sheer volume of noise we decided that large wasps were not the cause. Instead we quickly realised that it was from a bunch of "Toy Aeroplane" enthusiasts who were playing with their models at the other side of the airfield. quite frankly it was a bit of a pain in the arse because they were flying their toys a bit too close for comfort, I wonder what they would say if we staged a burnout session in the middle of their space? I also wonder if they have noise restrictions on their toys !!!!!!!
Enough about the Toy Aeroplanes take a look at This for a "Take Off"
Now its Joeys turn to show what he can do.
Unfortunately on one of his practice runs our Hero found out the hard way that tyres heated up on a burnout up to the line do not stay hot if there is a 5 minute delay before his run, Oops !
He acted like a true racer and blamed his Dad for the incident though
Anyway no damage done not even to the lads "Monumental Ego"
and off went our Hero for the next run
Tim Swait gave some entertaining passenger rides, here he has Irene on board. After he took me out for a ride he asked how heavy I was, the reason for his interest he said was that he thought his brakes were not working at the first chicane with me on board
Well another great fun day was had by all, his times were good and we were very pleased how well the Metro ran throughout the day, Roll on the next one in a couple of weeks.
